"My Favourite Colour is October"

On Thursday 8th October we held our Autumn Creative Day. We decided that this would be a creative day tailored for the whole team but especially for the Make-up artists.

The theme was all things Autumnal. We set up a Pinterest board and began to collate our ideas as a team. Here is the link to the Pinterest board

When we originally planned to do an Autumn creative day we asked the staff what came to their minds when they thought of this time of year. For some it was pumpkins and pinecones, fallen leaves and colourful trees and for others it was getting cosy with chunky blankets and scarves and palettes of purples, plums, oranges and greens. We loved the variety of ideas which the team had and decided to incorporate as many ideas as we could. We put together the following concept board and shared it with the team.

Our stylist, Sian went off to collect fallen leaves, dried out berries and twigs along with cosy knits and leathers, to create outfits.

Our MUAs Jess and Suze each had the freedom to decide on their own ideas for the hair and make-up.

We arrived at 10am and the models went in to hair and make-up. Both Jess and Suze decided to create some unique autumn inspired looks.

Jess decided on a cut-crease eye with a palette of browns and plum tones for the lip. She also created a nest like hair do with branches and pine cones. Toni looked like an autumn pixie!

Suze decided on a curled hair do but a more creative make up look adding in gold leaf and dried leaves with yellow hues beneath, finished off with a gold and brown glitzly lip to match the gold leaf. Klaudia looked dazzling!

The make-up artists both did a fantastic job transforming our models in to Autumnul goddesses. The photographers were eager to photograph the girls and spent the morning setting up the studio and experimentig with lighting and camera lenses.

During the shoot the photographers, Beverley, Fiona and Aga, had the opportunity to try some fun techniques including using a Lensbaby Spark, which is used to create a tilt shift effect.

Aga experimented with lighting during the shoot, she used daylight rather than studio lamps to create an outdoor feel. Using a soft box positioned behind the model and reflectors, Fiona produced shots which had a soft and ethereal look.

Here is a look at some of what was going on behind the scenes.

Beverley decided she wanted to shoot an image which included lots of falling leaves. This proved pretty difficult to capture and so we shot the leaves and the model separately and Beverley cleverly merged the two images to create an amazing final image.

Heres a look at some of the final images icluding the beautifully re-touched falling leaf image.

Absolutely amazing final images and a great day with our super talented creative team, we hope you like the final images!

Look out for more creative days coming your way in 2016....special thanks to J'adore Models Manchester for providing us with two stunning models.xx
