Hospital Bag Checklist: What to pack
Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! As the due date approaches, it’s important to start thinking about what to pack in your hospital bag for the big day. While every mom-to-be may have different preferences, here are some general recommendations on what to bring to the hospital when having a baby.
Comfortable Clothes:
During labour, you will likely be wearing a hospital gown, but once the baby arrives, you will want to change into something more comfortable. Pack loose-fitting, comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off. Consider bringing a robe, slippers, and warm socks as well.
PYJAMAS | CASHMERE SOCKS | FLUFFY SLIPPERS | VELOUR ROBE | ZIP SWEATSHIRT | GREY SWEATER | GREY JOGGERS | BLACK SWEATER | CASHMERE ZIP HOODIE | NURSING TOP | LOUNGEWEAR SET | SLIPPERS
Personal Toiletries:
Pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and any other toiletries you typically use on a daily basis. Hospitals may provide some of these items, but having your own can make you feel more comfortable.
Nursing Bra, Nursing Pads & Postpartum Care Items:
If you plan to breastfeed, pack a nursing bra and nursing pads. Nursing pads help prevent leakage and keep you feeling comfortable. Pack items like pads, underwear, and a peri bottle to help you care for yourself after giving birth.
NURSING BRAS | AIRPOD CASE | POSTPARTUM CARE KIT | BREAST PADS | SATIN SCRUNCHIES | TANGLE TEEZER | FIBRE ONE BARS | HONEY LIP BALM | POSTPARTUM DONUT PILLOW | FIRST TIME PARENT BOOK | COMFORT PILLOW | SILK EYE MASK | MATERNITY BRIEFS
Snacks:
Hospital food may not be to everyone’s liking, and you may get hungry in between meals. Pack some healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, or dried fruit to keep your energy levels up.
Comfort Items:
Bring items that help you relax and feel calm, such as a pillow, music, or a book.
Baby Clothes:
Don’t forget to pack clothes for your newborn baby, including a onesie, hat, and socks. You may also want to pack a going-home outfit for your baby.
PRAM SUIT | CARDIGAN | LEGGINGS | BABYGROWS | 3 PACK HATS | 3 PIECE SET | BOBBLE HAT | BIBS | 4 PIECE SET | PRAM SUIT | MUSLIN CLOTHS | KNITTED ALL IN ONE | KNIT BABY GROW | CARDIGAN | KNIT DUNGAREES
Car Seat:
It’s important to have a car seat ready when it’s time to leave the hospital. Install the car seat ahead of time and make sure you know how to use it properly.
Important Documents:
Bring your insurance card, ID, and any hospital paperwork you have received. You may also want to bring your birth plan if you have one.
Chargers and Electronics:
Bring chargers for your phone and any other electronics you want to use. You may also want to bring a camera to capture those precious first moments with your baby… Speaking of capturing memories, while you’re planning your hospital bag, don’t forget to book your newborn photoshoot. You want to get this sorted well in advance and we normally do these shoots when baby is around 10-14 days old. So while you’re thinking about it, click here to book your newborn photoshoot now.
And let’s not forget… The bag itself:
Just because it’s your hospital bag doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish. Your bag needs to be big enough to fit all your essential items so we’ve picked out some of our faves for you below.
1 – EVERLANE | 2 – JOHN LEWIS | 3 – JOHN LEWIS | 4 – COS | 5 – ALL SAINTS | 6 – MANGO
Remember that packing for the hospital is a personal choice, and you may want to pack additional items that make you feel more comfortable. It’s also a good idea to check with your hospital to see what they provide and what they recommend you bring. With a well-packed hospital bag, you’ll be prepared for the big day and ready to welcome your new little one into the world.
